What's new at Cawood.com?
It was time
Time to stir things up. We’ve designed and developed some awesome websites for our clients lately. So, it was time to change our own. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed working on it. It is, after all, just for you.

Firefox & Flash rock!
Ok, we’re biased. But, we love browsers that are safe and let website visitors see, hear and do all that modern sites allow. For this reason, we recommend using Firefox when viewing our site. You can download it, here.
To see all the “fun” stuff, you’ll need the latest If you browse to us from a connection that doesn’t allow Flash, you may not see all of our media content, but you’ll still have plenty to see. Just remember to visit again when you can enable Flash.
our site beforeWhy change?
Many people liked our old site, so why change? Well, there were limitations. At the time it was built, creating a site entirely in Flash with a content management system and html alternative pushed the envelope. Although the look and feel was interesting, we were stuck with a fixed height and a substantial loading time. On our new site, we wanted to create an interesting user experience and make it easier to view our abundant content. We kept to Web standards while incorporating some new interesting elements – lightboxing for images, combined video and html content, randomized layout elements, and extensive use of Web video hosted on YouTube.
our site afterOur Process
Brainstorming, planning, designing, developing. More brainstorming, designing, planning, implementing. Did we mention brainstorming? Yep, this one took a lot of thought and collaboration, as it should have. A website has the ability to make a company’s brand come to life. So, we took time to figure out how it would express the essence of CAWOOD.
How does it work? (Beware – technical info here)
The site runs on an Apache with PHP 5 and MySQL. It’s constructed using HTML, CSS, Javascript, Flash and PHP. The site runs on Joomla 1.5.x, an open source and very versatile content management system (CMS). Finding a suitable CMS is an early consideration on any web project. We like to pass on editing capabilities to our clients, so the site stays updated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Circle of web life
The work is never done. Any good interactive website is never complete. It’s a living document that changes as its visitors interact with it. Check back. The site will likely be different the next time you’re here. Enjoy your stay. And thank you for stopping by.
