Hello, can you hear me?
Is it difficult to hear the audio in your videos? Then it’s time to get an external microphone. Video cameras are equipped with an onboard microphone but the quality they produce isn’t always great. The quality of your audio will vary depending on how far you are from the subject, the location you are shooting and the volume of the sounds you're recording. If you’re anything further than a few feet it’s time to get a microphone.
We use a professional grade wireless lavalier and handheld microphone combo set. You can choose wired or wireless, with wireless giving you more freedom but also adding the need to make sure your batteries won't go dead while you're shooting. Before you buy, make sure your camera can accept an external microphone, most cameras have a plug-in or a "hot-shoe" that accepts external components. Shop around and see what you can afford, there are plenty that will be better than the built-in microphone on your camera without breaking the bank. Also, be sure to listen to your audio while you’re shooting and you’ll enjoy crisper, clearer audio in your video productions.
